Wholesale Landscapes Congratulates Tim’s Garden Services on Expansion

Since 1998, Wholesale Landscapes’ mulches, composts and soils have proven to be the favoured choice for landscapers operating in the Top of the South. The quality of products is well-renowned, and one local business has been thriving, utilising Wholesale Landscapes product, and is now branching out, reflecting its burgeoning growth in a buoyant market.

Tim’s Garden Services will open premises at 26 Gloucester Street on Saturday 31 August and, partnering with Wholesale Landscapes, the shop will provide each customer with a novel, practical experience to enhance their gardening journey or facilitate their landscape design, planning and execution process.

Operating from a home since 2016, Tim’s Garden Services, which follows sustainable, organic and permaculture principles, has proved so popular that its owner, Tim Morozgalski, feels the time has come to enter a new phase. His specialist gardening shop will offer a range of edible and organic plants, allow space for running workshops and contain a dedicated design studio with experienced staff on-hand to guide customers.

Tim, who has a background in environmental science, is dedicated to bringing more people into the ‘grow-your-own’ reality. One of his passions is to help home gardeners produce nutritionally-rich edibles in their back gardens.

Tim says working with Wholesale Landscapes has been a critical part of his business journey, as he can rely on the knowledgeable and helpful staff to suggest just the right product for the job. The broad choice of rich, quality soils, pre-mixed composts, gravels, stones and bark mulches available at Wholesale Landscapes provides all the supplies his business needs. Organically-certified BioGro compost even allows for fully-integrated organic garden solutions.

Tim’s Garden Services shop will feature samples of Wholesale Landscapes’ range of landscaping supplies, enabling customers to get a feel for what they would like to incorporate into their landscape design, or what should fill their raised beds. Tim says that even at this quieter time in the garden, mulches are useful to feed the soil in advance of the growing season. He believes it is important to establish good soil health to enhance the nutritional value of the food you grow in it.

Feedback from Tim’s customers has been encouraging – they report great results in gardens which have a foundation built on Wholesale Landscapes product. These positive experiences continue to drive Tim’s Garden Services’ growth.

Wholesale Landscapes knows great foundations alongside great partnerships make great businesses and so we proudly support Tim’s Garden Services and would like to wish Tim every success in his expanded business venture.

Recommended depths

Typically you need a finishing layer of screened soil of 100mm when working with an uneven surface. 100mm of soil will allow to even out any hollows and give enough depth to create a flat surface

A general rule for compost is to allow for the depth of the current root structure of your plants with an additional 30-50% to mix in with the base. If you’re planting into holes or filling up a vege garden  you will need to accommodate for this prior to filling up

We recommend 100mm (10cm) deep for new bark gardens and planting into bare areas. For existing gardens with some cover, we recommend 75mm-100mm (7.5cm-10cm)

Note: Barked areas for playground impact protection need to meet NZS5828:2015 standards and is calculated on the fall areas and the height of the playground. Please contact us to discuss your barked playground areas

For paths and driveways which are often exposed to car and foot traffic, we recommend 100mm-125mm (10cm-12.5cm) on newly prepared areas due to settling of product.

This excludes preparation, compaction or drainage gravel underneath. For existing areas 75mm thickness is recommended for areas needing a small top-up.
