Having the right PH level will contribute to how well your plants absorb nutrients, the plants growth and preventing insufficient blooms or crops. The pH level is a measure of acidity that is represented by a value between 0 and 14. Anything below 7.0 is considered acidic and anything above is alkaline. finding the right balance will ensure your plants thrive and won’t struggle to grow.
How can I find out my soil’s PH levels?
You can do this by purchasing a PH level home test kit online or at your local gardening store. When testing your soil make sure your sample is picked from just below the surface for an accurate reading.
Does your soil need adjusting?
If you need to make your soil more acidic adding things such as mulch or compost can improve this. If you need to go the other way and make your soil more alkaline you might consider adding things such as lime, dolomite or poultry manure.
Every plant prefers a different level of acidity. So we have put together a few helpful charts to help you find which pH level is best for your plants.
